PRESS RELEASE For more information: Rebecca Bond, 480-350-5490 January 7, 2009 Tempe, Ariz. – Tempe Connections, a program of The Friends of the Tempe Public Library, is taking registration for is Spring Semester of Academic Connections courses. Each course will meet for four 90-minute classes over four weeks from February 9 through April 7 in the Tempe Connections meeting room adjacent to the Connections Cafe. Among the courses to be offered are: The First 100 Years of Quantum Physics (Part II) taught by ASU Prof. Emeritus Richard Jacob, Ph.D. Arizona’s Age of Reform: Populists, Radicals, and Progressives, 1890-1920 taught by ASU Professor Emeritus David Berman, Ph.D. “Moving to the Rhythm” Afro-Caribbean Music taught by Jesse Joaquin Parker, Professional Jazz Musician The Original Don Juan: Spain’s Golden Age of Theater taught by Donald Dietz, Ph.D. What Do Diseases Look Like? – Revealed Through the Fascinating World of Radiology taught by Professor Emeritus Eric vanSonnenberg, M.D. Understanding Modern Jazz taught by Jesse Joaquin Parker, Professional Jazz Musician Reflections of Diversity and Change in Arizona History, 1930 – present taught by Christine Marin, Ph.D. Annie Dillard, Nature Writer Extraordinaire taught by Beatrice Gordon, Instructor Emerita Myth, Symbol, and Ritual taught by Keith Crudup, Ph.D. Tempe Connections partners with the ASU Osher Lifelong Learning Institute to offer a diverse repertoire of intellectually stimulating short courses, lectures and workshops in its Academic Connections program. Taught by ASU Emeritus/Emerita faculty, community college professors and career professionals, these college-level courses provide adults opportunities to expand their knowledge while meeting new friends and forming new social networks. There is a semester general registration fee of only $35 and then just $10 per course fee. Each course is limited to 22 participants and registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. |
